2015 – What a Year it Was

By 0 Permalink 0

For the past couple years I’ve gotten really into creating these recap videos at the end of each year that kind of give a glimpse into what we did for that year. In the past it’s been a lot about where we’ve traveled and what we’ve done when going out with friends, but this year was a lot different. One major event in our lives took precedence over everything else and geared the video in a certain direction… that event being the birth of our first daughter in April.

We still managed to do more than I thought we would after having a baby, but we didn’t get to travel as much as we normally do, we didn’t get to go to as many street fests as we normally do, we didn’t get to go out in the city as much as we normally do, but we had a kid… and that’s incredible.

Don’t get me wrong, we still managed to get out of town for a weekend to St. Louis for a good friend’s wedding (I also made it down there earlier in the year for his bachelor party). We also made it out to three different street fests in Chicago this year: Taste of Randolph (when the kid was like 2 or 3 months old), Retro on Roscoe, and Edison Park Fest. The only difference this year was that we couldn’t spend 8 hours down there drinking, we had to kind of plan it between naps, but we still managed to get out and enjoy the Chicago summer.

With the baby being so young this year it was a little harder to actually take her to places and do things, but we’re definitely looking forward to a more active 2016 with the kid, which also means that I will probably have a lot more video footage which I may try to edit together more frequently instead of just once a year. Sometimes I find that I don’t have enough footage and sometimes (like this year) I find I have way too much.

So we’ll see what happens. I’d love to get more videos up on my YouTube channel, but I don’t really want them to be “vloggy”, but that might be what they turn into, we’ll see.

Happy New Year!
